Remove wallpaper using a steamer (this is the easiest, most ideal method; you can purchase a steamer for under $100 at most hardware stores)
PLEASE NOTE: The wallpaper removal process can vary depending on a) how much glue has been used, b) how many layers of paper there are, and c) how old the wallpaper is overall. All these factors help determine how difficult the project will be and how long it will take. Because of this, we often won’t know how complicated your project is until we get started.
After removal, complete any drywall repairs necessary (a skim coat might be needed)
PLEASE NOTE: Sometimes there will be a workable texture beneath your old wallpaper, but this is fairly rare. Be aware that, if there’s drywall underneath your paper, the removal process can often yield some noticeable damage (think: possible gouges). In addition, the removal process can cause the top layer of the drywall to peel off in certain sections, and some small bubbles may emerge that will need to be cut out. This is where our repair service comes in.
Apply desired texture once removal and repair are
finished (textures can include orange peel, knockdown,
etc.)
Prime with a stain-blocking primer (highly recommended)
Effective primers to use include:
Oil-based primer
SW Extreme Block® (alkyd-oil)
SW Extreme Block® (water-based)
Zinsser Gardz Problem Solver
(if there is substantial drywall damage or bubbling following wallpaper removal, this product can help prevent further issues)
Paint the walls according to customer specifications
Clean the workspace, leaving everything just as we found it (or better!)
